Around the CCHL: Millers off-season preview

While the CCHL finals start, the management team in Georgetown are already thinking ahead to next season's roster.

A trade will be announced immediately after the Finals end. Although no details can be released, it's understood the player acquired will become the club's UFA re-signing, and the representatives of Zach Parise, who was the only UFA with a reasonable chance to come back, have been told that he will be allowed to hit the market. The club wants to stay in contact with Parise but they ultimately expect some club to step up with a multi-year offer in the 8 figure range.

Among players who could be traded, Charlie Coyle tops the list as the club wants to open up a 4 year contract slot for one of the RFA re-signs. Christian Fischer could also be shopped for the same reason. The Millers would love to move the contracts of Ryan Miller and Jay Beagle, and are willing to eat a substantial amount of the remaining money to make it happen.

It's also expected that GEO will try to move one of their younger bottom pairing Dmen. Stecher, Nutivarra and Kulak are all puck-movers who played top 4 roles with their NHL teams, but one needs to go as the team has 8 solid D-man and no serious injury concerns among the top 5 of Josi, Orlov, Hamilton, Pesce and Chiarot.

Expect the core of the team to stay in place, with only the netminders expected to change with the ascension of Jordan Binnington to the #1 spot.
