Millers Musings November 1, 2026

Lots of roster moves to cover…

(10/20/26) Connor Dewar awarded to GEO via waiver claim…

(10/20/26) GEO waives Colin Blackwell (waiver expiration date

10/23/26)…

Georgetown swaps out one defensive forward for another. Dewar

is a clear upgrade as he has some decent offense for a 4th liner

in addition to his penalty kill prowess. Blackwell saw action in 5

early games, failed to impress, and ultimately cleared waivers and

is now UFA.

(10/30/26) VIC trades Logan Thompson to GEO for Dylan Cozens

& Lukas Dostal….

A huge move, as the home-grown Dostal was viewed as the

team’s long-term starter in net. After a rough start his game had

stabilized and he had moved into the top 5 CCHL goalies

statistically. Dostal is more the victim of his NHL team allowing

their defense to fall apart then any unhappiness on the part of the

Millers.

Cozens has been solid as the club’s 2nd line Center but his

penchant for picking up minor penalties was putting the Millers on

the PK way too often. He was also struggling a bit at even

strength, not really finding much chemistry with a variety of

wingers. Georgetown has solid depth at center so it’s hoped his

loss can be absorbed internally.

Thompson is tied with 2 others as the highest-rated keeper in the

CCHL and is signed for 3 more years. He was off to a so-so start

in Victoria and the team hopes he can perk up behind what is, on

paper, a pretty good defensive unit.

(10/31/26) CAP trades Cam York to GEO for Blake Fiddler-p,

GEO 4th-27 & GEO 5th-28…

York was brought in to strengthen the D corps even further. A true

2-way minute muncher, he’s likely to displace someone aside

from LaCombe in the top 4, and send John Marino to the bench.

York can fill in on the Power-Play if needed and of course will see

plenty of short-handed time. Only 25, the pending RFA is sure to

be extended in the off-season.

Fiddler was the Millers 3rd best Defenseman prospect and 8th

overall in a recent review of Georgetown’s system, but it’s

increasingly doubtful he’ll meet the top 4 projection placed on him

around the 2025 draft and is more likely to be a 4 to 6 in the pro

game. The offense just has not emerged yet.
