Dayton top ten prospects - February Edition...

Top ten prospects for the Musicmen as of 2/25/2018...

1. Robert Hagg - With 20 games left in the Flyers season, Hagg continues to place in top 4 of all dman in ice time, leads the team in hits with 220 and is 3rd with blocked shots. Top 6 in plus-minus rating should make him a very useful player for DAY next season.

2. Nick Suzuki - After a slow start to the 17-18 year, the Golden Knights 1st rounder has turned it on for Owen Sound and today finds himself sitting in 4th place in OHL scoring with 86 pts. (33/53) in 54 games. Likely a year or more away, but Suzuki seems to be developing as expected.

3. Cale Makar - After a strong showing at the World Juniors earlier this year, Makar has returned to the University of Massachusetts where he sits 5th in team scoring and holds the 2nd best +/- rating on the team and is top 3 in shot blocks. We know his offense will be fine, but its good to see some growth defensively as well.

4. Morgan Frost - Mr. Frost just continues to put up points in the OHL. 2nd on OHL scoring with 35 goals and 61 assists in 57 games, the young Philly prospect is likely running out of things to prove at this level. Does he have a legit to make the Flyers next Fall? Probably not, but he wouldn't be the first to shine as a younger player given the opportunity at training camp.

5. Aleksi Heponiemi - A stud scoring machine in the WHL, he's posted 2.23 pts PER GAME this season for the Swift Current Broncos. an offensive magician, the Panthers prospect has shot up the Dobber prospect rankings for forwards by over 100 places in the last 3 months. It's a long way, of course, from the WHL to the Florida lineup but with seasons like this, he's certainly on the radar over the next few years.

6. Troy Terry - The Anaheim prospect is in his 3rd year at Denver where he's posted a respectable 33 pts. in 30 games. More notably, Steel just wrapped up a stint with the United States Olympic team in South Korea where, despite the team's shortcomings, Terry finished 2nd in scoring on the squad. 5 points in 5 Olympic games isn't too shabby for the team's (by far) youngest player. Clearly, he can up his game, and should be a factor down the road for the Ducks.

7. Nic Hague - 2nd among all defensemen in the OHL scoring, the development continue for the 6'6 Golden Knights 2nd rounder from last year's draft. 29 goals and 32 assists for 61 pts. in 57 games this year suggests he'll be able to combine both size and skill someday for Vegas.

8. Taylor Raddysh - The Lighting's sharp RW prospect has had a solid year for Sault. Ste. Marie in the Ontario Hockey League, posting 29 goals and 42 assists for 71 pts. in just 41 games. Part of the future in Tampa unless he's moved for help now for the Lightning. Regardless, Raddysh's progression toward a full-time NHL job seems to be on track.

9. Cliff Pu - A prospect that should benefit from a thin crowd in front of him to reach the Sabres starting lineup in the next few years. 72 points in 56 games in the OHL this season correctly portrays him as an offensive threat in the future for Buffalo.

10. Dante Fabbro - The Preds 1st round pick in 2016 sits 3rd in overall team scoring and leads all blueliners this season for the Boston University Terriers in the NCAA. Nashville seems stable and unlikely to rush the 19 year old defenseman into a NHL job anytime soon, but patience should pay off and produce a steady, 2 way dman for the big club in a few years.
