Pastrnak, Gaudreau score a hat trick in win over Falcons 8-2

FORT ERIE –  Tonight the POG line (Pastrnak-O’Reilly-Gaudreau) put on a show in front of the sellout crowd in Fort Erie as the Chinook with a convincing 8-2 win over the Fort Erie Falcons Monday night.

David Pastrnak and Johnny Gaudreau each scored a hat trick while the second line all with a +7 to finish the night.  Pastrnak, Gaudreau and O’Reilly have a combined of 17 points for the night.

“Everything we touched just clicked tonight, “said Gaudreau. “It was one of those nights that every opportunity you get seems to go in the back of the net."

"We've had a lot of game that relies on Sidney’s line to work wonder," said Weber. "So it's nice to see some of the players who usually don't score a lot get some points tonight.  It was a huge game for us."

The season-high 8 games road trip was a success so far with a 5-1-0 with two games remaining on the road.

"It is definitely good for the confidence of the group," said Crosby. "We played well on the road trip but didn't break out like we did tonight. We stuck with it and it paid off."

"Everything went wrong tonight," said Falcons defenseman Dougie Hamilton. "We weren't skating, we gave them too many odd-man rushes and they're a talented team and they take advantage of that. Right from the start, it wasn't a good game for us. I thought we got a little better in the second, but it was a bad game overall."

The Chinook started swarming Gibson early and it wasn't long until the floodgates opened. Giordano scored at 2:29, Pastrnak made it 2-0 thirty seconds later and by the first intermission the game was all but over. The Chinook piled on in the third, with Pastrnak completed the hat trick at 17:33.

The Crosby line was combined of -5 tonight.  Coach Eugene Yip will re-unite the Crosby-Panarin-Pavelski Line tomorrow.
