Chinook score last-second goal to beat Barracudas 4-3

OTTAWA –  The Calgary Chinook scored with less than 8 seconds left in regulation for a dramatic 4-3 win over the Ottawa Barracudas on Thursday night in Ottawa.

Barracudas opened up the scoring early in the first as forward Tyler Toffoli forced a turnover in the Chinook end of the ice. After drawing Chinook goaltender Carey Price out of position, Toffoli slid the puck into the right side of the net to make it 1-0 at 11:44 mark of the first period.

Seven minutes later, forward Panarin sent the puck to Pavelski at the top of the crease. Captain Sidney Crosby redirected a soft pass in front to earn his nineteen goal of the year at the 18:41 mark.

The Chinook gained the lead in the second period as Pastrnak scored his thirteen goal of the year, punching in a rebound pass Barracudas goaltender Hellebuyck at 7:36 mark.

Barracudas tied the game at two at 12:36 of the second period as Stastny fired a slap shot from the left circle to beat Chinook netminder Carey Price.  Barracudas’ Bobby Ryan make it 3-2 in the beginning of the third period.

The Chinook bounced back at 9:23 as assistant captain Mark Giordano sniped one under the crossbar from the left side of the faceoff circle.

O’Reilly completed the comeback in the dying seconds of the third period to win the game 4-3.

“This is good vibes, this is everybody feeling confident. A great team win, great goaltending and a comeback.” Said Chinook forward O’Reilly after the game. “Whenever you get a comeback win, you feel pretty good about yourself.”

“I thought the atmosphere in the building was more intense than most of the regular-season games we’ve played so far.” Chinook coach Eugene Yip said.  “It had some really good energy and to come back against a really good hockey club -- it’s a good game for everyone.”
