Dayton Falls Short against Reign, but Elliott Stellar again...

Seattle, WA - Brian Elliott continued his hot play by stopping 49 of 51 Seattle shots on goal in a close game the Musicmen lost to the Reign, 2-1.

Elliott's save percentage improves to 913%, his GAA drops to 3.82 and his overall rating has now climbed to 65.3 on the season, good for third place in the CCHL.

Elliott is now just .5 behind the top goalie rating in the entire league, currently held by both Dartmouth's Cam Talbot and Springfield's Bobrovsky.

Dayton was outshot 51 - 38 for the game.

Seattle was held scoreless on the six power play chances they had tonight. Dayton was 0 for 3.

Dayton lost two more defensemen this evening. Matt Irwin is out for 6 days and Patrick Wiercioch will miss three and a half weeks.

The two injuries leave the Musicmen with four healthy defensemen.

"We're working on a few different deals at this time and we won't be surprised if by the time the puck drop in Dartmouth Monday evening, we have a couple of new guys with us." said GM Corfield.

Tonight's game was the team's first without Aleksander Barkov, who was traded back to Calgary early Friday evening.

The win puts Seattle within two points of the sixth and final playoff spot in the Corfield Conference. Dayton remains entrenched in 10th place with 17 points.

The Reign's Corey Crawford stopped 37 out of 38 Musicmen shots on goal.

Notes:

The Brian Elliott trade watch continues, GM Corfield commented, " I have nothing to announce at this time. We have multiple discussions ongoing at this time. I can confirm that more than one team has inquired about Brian and in all of those cases, names have been discussed in an effort to get something done. When and if we do come to an agreement to move Elliott, we'll notify the media of the formal press conference."
