Chinook win over Reign 6-3 but lose Pietrangelo and Howard

CALGARY –  For the third games in three nights, the Chinook had luck — all sorts of it —on their side during Thursday’s 6-3 triumph over the Seattle Reign.

“The puck was bouncing all night and we said in the locker room, let’s get more pucks to the net in the second period,” said Chinook star winger Johnny Gaudreau. “Good things happen when you get the pucks to the net, and we found a way to get a couple of greasy goals.”

Four greasy goals, actually, all during that middle stanza.

Panarin scored off the boot of Chychrun for his 13th goal of the season.

Pastrnak deflection goal also grazed Chychrun before finding the back of the net.  Chychrun was a minus 3 tonight.

“When you attack enough, you’re going to get some lucky bounces, and I thought that’s what we did,” said Chinook head coach Eugene Yip. “We put enough pucks to the net (59 shots) and bodies to the net. We got one of a ricochet, one came off the back wall, but we had players in the right spots and it caused them some troubles.

“It’s a product of playing the right way and you get some bounces.”

Shattenkirk set up Granlund’s fourth of the season to added an insurance marker for the Chinook.

Unfortunately, Pietrangelo was injured during the first period and Howard was also out just before the game ended.  Expect Price starts on Saturday against the Falcons.

NOTES:

The Chinook hasn't scored on the power play the last three games.

Both Crosby and Panarin have 13 goals this season

UP NEXT:
