Falcons Lose to Halifax...

Halifax, NS -

In what is becoming an alarming trend for Fort Erie Falcons' fans, the team surrendered another third period lead on Sunday night, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Halifax Hammerheads.

Fort Erie was up 4-2 after two periods of play, but as things go lately, this game was anything but simple.

Halifax came out strong in the third period, outshooting the visiting Falcons by a 17-8 count, netting three goals in the process.

Following the game, Falcons GM Matt Young didn't mince words about what has to happen given the recent streak of blown leads.

"I've looked at the data in the games we've blown leads, and it's obvious to me what is happening here.  We have tired guys on the ice.  We can't expect guys that typically play 18 minutes to be playing 23 minutes.  These are human beings and I don't care what kind of conditioning you have, you will run out of gas at some point.  The coaching staff has to be better at managing those minutes" said the frustrated Young.

While the players refused to comment on the issue, a few indicated that they are playing more minutes now than at any point in their career and a change might help everyone stay a little fresher.

While the dressing room was a very somber place post-game, Sam Reinhart was at least happy to get back on the score sheet after being held pointless for three straight games.

"It was good to get one tonight.  I was only two points back of Getzlaf but now have fallen seven points back for the scoring lead.  I didn't think I'd have a year like this but the challenge is to keep it going.  We've really struggled as a team lately and wrecked what was a great start so we need to figure this out and fast" said Reinhart.

The Falcons will get Monday off due to the holiday in Canada, and will be back in action on Tuesday night in Fort Erie.
