Chinook overcome Barracudas comeback to win in overtime

OTTAWA – Sidney Crosby scores 1:06 minutes into overtime as the Chinook stay perfect this season with a 3-2 win.

Crosby tipped the puck past Hellebuyck off a pass from Silfverberg.  Calgary was awarded the man advantage when Ottawa’s Paul Stastny was whistled for tripping 36 seconds into overtime.

The Calgary Chinook fires 56 shots on the net but only managed to score three.  “We have to give credit to the Barracudas and Hellebuyck, they hung in there and forced the overtime.  We had 17 minutes in the offensive zone and Hellebuyck was phenomenal tonight.  Said O’Reilly, who open the scoring in the first period.  “Although they only have 10 shots on Pricey, they capitalize on their chances.  Those were perfect shots; we have to be more careful not letting those shots through.”

Stastny and Ritchie scored for the Barracudas.  Letang was injured when he crashed awkwardly into the board.  He will be evaluated when the team flies back home tonight.  Fehr and Chara were also injured in tonight’s game.

“We will be facing the Dayton Musicmen next game, many players were exchanged in the offseason.  We expect players like Drouin, Barkov, Tyutin (which is surprisingly tied for 4th in +/-) and Monahan wanting to prove us wrong by trading them away.  “Said Eugene.

NOTES:
Letang considered day to day. Expect Karl Alzner to start his first game of the season.
Rumor has that GM Eugene is not satisfied with the Faceoff win percentage, expect Eugene to actively look for a Defensive center.

UP NEXT:
The Calgary Chinook and a bunch of players (Crosby, Pavelski, Panarin, Weber) will face their former team the Dayton Musicmen on Sunday.
