Defenceman Scores To Help Chinook Win Over Falcons 5-3

FORT ERIE – Three different defensemen scored for the Chinook as the Calgary Chinook defeated the Fort Erie Falcons 5-3.  Mark Giordano scored his first goal of the season in the middle of the first period.  Wheeler tied the game at one apiece.  Filling in for Pietrangelo injury, Karl Alzner also scored his first of the season to get back the lead.  Flood gates opened in the third period where Crosby and Panarin scored 4 minutes 10 seconds apart.  Falcon’s Pacioretty replied for the Falcon and Weber added an empty-net goal to cement the win for the Chinook.

Entering the third period, leading 2-1, Sidney Crosby won the draw to Pavelski, who immediately passed back to Crosby as he raced into the Falcons zone and beat goaltender Grubauer to expand the lead to 2 goals.

"[Pavelski] made the play, pretty much," Sidney Crosby told the media. "We kind of looked at each other before that start of the faceoff and he decided he was going to try to push it ahead. ... He made a great play, I just fired on net."

Howard had 42 saves as the Chinook improved to 10-1-1. The veteran acquired in the off-season to be the Chinook No. 1b goalie was putting on a show at Fort Erie.
