Parry Sound Gives Falcons All They Can Handle...

Fort Erie, September 29, 2017

In what many fans felt would be a pretty easy night for the Fort Erie Falcons turned out to be anything but easy.

The Falcons got up by two early with a strong first period, outshooting the Orrsmen 20-7.  The Falcons received goals from Mark Letestu on the power play and Tyler Bozak just 2:39 later and things looked to be going well.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the perception that a two-goal lead is the safest lead in hockey turned out to be completely false in this contest.

Fort Erie found themselves down a man five times in the second stanza, and outshot 22 to 3 in the process but still held a one-goal lead heading into the third period.

After a pretty evenly played period, Orrsmen second-year star Jack Eichel tied the game with a minute to go and the goalie on the bench.

The Fort Erie faithful were stunned but that late goal seemed to spark something in the Falcons as they came out in overtime hard.

Despite outshooting the Orrsmen 11-0 in the additional frame, the game ended in a tie.

"We just weren't very good in the second and third periods tonight.  We came out flat.  We got lazy.  Teams in this league are too good to do that against and tonight it cost us a point" said Nazem Kadri post game.

Fort Erie has some time off between games before they return to the ice in Wisborg to take on everyone's favorite snack time food, the Donuts.
