Hammerheads rally to tie Chinook 2-2

The Halifax Hammerheads tied the Calgary Chinook 2-2 Saturday night.

The Hammerheads open the scoring with a shorthanded tally by Faulk who had a two on one with Johnson, wristed one off the crossbar past Howard.  Pavelski and Niederretier scored to give Chinook the lead in the third period.

Jason Chimera tied the game for the home team with his 1st of the year at the 16:34 mark of the third, with a tip in of a Tyler Johnson slap shot from the right point.

“We have to play better than this game,  “said Assistant captain Mark Giordano.  “We were complacent at the end of the game trying to protect the one goal lead.  One turnover and they got the goal.  “

“With this lineup I expect a lot more scoring but clearly something is not right.  “GM Eugene Yip said during the post-game press conference.  “I will discuss it with my staff and maybe we will have some line juggling to do in the upcoming game against the Parry Sound Orrsmen back in Calgary.”

Eugene will reunite the Crosby Panarin Pavelski lines from last season with the Musicmen.  “They played great together last season, hopefully, they can spark some offense the next game,” said GM Yip

The tie keeps both teams undefeated this season.
