The Latest From Fort Erie...

It's game day in Fort Erie as the Falcons return home to take on the Wisborg Donuts in what should be a solid test for the Falcons after a long four-day break in the schedule.

While it has yet to be confirmed, it appears newly acquired Philipp Grubauer will get the start in goal for Fort Erie, his first start as a member of the Falcons roster.

Rumors began circulating that GM Matt Young had dangled Brent Seabrook's name in trade talks over the weekend and it was something that Young didn't deny this morning.

"Look, we're basically willing to talk about almost any player on the roster or in the system.  Does that mean we're going to do it?  Nope.  Brent is a top pairing defenceman and I can't think he's happy playing on our third pairing despite our obvious depth back there.  You never say never to exploring anything" said Young in a rather matter-of-fact tone.

It's hard to believe that the Falcons would want to part with Seabrook, but an argument could be made that having hulking defenseman Stephen Johns sitting nightly isn't good for the youngster's development either.

While I couldn't get confirmation today, it appears that Young was looking for prospects and or picks in exchange for the veteran defenceman.

Dump Ins:  I can confirm that Curtis McElhinney has been sent down to the Orchard Park Piranhas today for a conditioning stint.  Since it's been about three weeks since the veteran has seen game action, the team has sent him to play while waiting for his chance with the big club.  At this point, it appears he has become nothing more than a third string goalie for the club.......

With Niagara Falls coming into town on the 13th, the Falcons have forbidden the game operations team from playing AC/DC's Thunderstruck on that night.  The Thunder will come into that contest hungry given their slow start to the season and there is no reason to provide them further inspiration by playing their jam......

Expect Raman Hrabarenka to be moved to the team's prospect reserve list soon and removed from the prospects list.  The reason for this paperwork is that Raman has apparently forgotten how to play good hockey and is too big to play as soft as he does.
