CCHL Trade Rumors for a Sunday Morning...

(TSN)

How about some trade rumors to start our Sunday off with?

*We have heard rumblings out of Sanibel that GM Ron Maskal has decided that if the Islanders, who have just 4 wins in their last 10 games - and, who had climbed to the very top of the Canosa Conference standings just a few weeks ago - continue to play at or below  .500 hockey over the next week to ten days, he will begin to sell off the list of pending UFA's. They have 13 guys in that category and if it seems that a serious Cup isn't in the cards, its just smart management to try and get something in return for guys like Phaneuf, Zetterberg, Beagle and Matt Read.

*Other teams with more than a few pending UFA's include Las Vegas (Joe Thornton), Niagara Falls (Nick Schultz), Parry Sound (Shawn Matthias), Portland (Patrick Marleau and Dominic Moore), Seattle (David Schlemko), Sudbury (Lauri Korpikoski and Vern Fiddler) and the Victoria Ronin (Brian Elliot and Kyle Quincey).

*Our last rumor just came to us late last night. It pretty fragmented, but as we understand it, three teams are looking at a monster deal. The rumor goes like this and we want to stress that none of this has been confirmed by our staff here at TSN Canada. We hear that the Dayton Musicmen are looking for a high upside winger and have their eyes on Boeser over in Georgetown. Georgetown has told everyone who has asked about Boeser that the kid is unavailable. But, the Millers are running out of patience with C Niklas Backstrom who hasn't performed anywhere close to expectations this season. The Millers are making another Cup run and they're in the thick of it in a very close Canosa Conference. They came within 1 goal of beating Dayton in the Finals last year and they badly want another crack at the Kehler Cup. If they would move Backstrom or find a suitable replacement for him, one of the places that seem to match up well with them are the Niagara Falls Thunder. We hear a youth movement is not far off and that while GM Nichol has already put Jonathon Toews on the block our sources tell us that he may be taking offers for Stamkos as well.

Dayton wants a big fish to jump in their prospect pool.
Georgetown needs a #1 Center if they're going to go anywhere in the playoffs.
Niagara Falls is on the verge of a serious youth movement.

Stamkos to the Millers sounds great for Georgetown, but their prospect list has a few nice names but other than Boeser, not a whole lot of high-end talent. Again, we need to stress we are trying to connect some different pieces of info that we've come to be aware of over the last 12 hours. This may be absolutely nothing.

The way it would have to work is Niagara sends Stamkos to Georgetown. Dayton sends a package of 2-3 of their high-end prospects like Frost, Fischer, Martel, Sanheim, Chabot, Fabbro, Sherwood, etc. to the Thunder and Boeser goes from Georgetown right up I-75 North into Dayton.

That's it from the rumor desk!
