UPDATE FROM GEORGETOWN MILLERS RE: BACKSTROM...

Release from the Georgetown Millers front office:

After meeting with the representatives of Nicklas Backstrom this morning at the Greensboro airport Starbucks, Miller's management has agreed to let Backstrom's representatives pursue a trade, as the team is not going to be strong-armed into offering a 4-year deal to the impending UFA before the season ends. The front office wants to make it clear that they have final say over any deal brought to them by Backstrom's agent and will not take pennies on the dollar to facilitate a move. Any return must include a player who can contribute to the team for the title push this season. Beyond that stipulation, we are open to any other types of return. If a proposed move does not benefit the club now and into the future than we are prepared to hold onto Backstrom until the off-season.

Backstrom is included in the lineup for tonight's home game versus Dayton.
