Chinook end road skid with 5-1 win over Isotopes


SPRINGFIELD – Four goals in the first period put Calgary ahead early, Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists and the Calgary Chinook beat the Springfield Isotopes 5-1 Saturday night with the last game of the four games road trip.

Chinook netminder Howard playing again in the back to back game, was stellar again with 25 saves, Isotopes forward Goligoski spoiled the shutout bid scoring a shorthanded goal with two minutes left in the third period.

Calgary ended the road trip with 2-2-0. Tonight is the second time in a row that Chinook had scored four goals in the first period.

Pavelski, Crosby, Ferland and Panarin scored for the Chinook in the first period to give Calgary a 4-0 lead.  Gaudreau made it 5-0 just nine second into the second period. The win snapped Isotopes four game winning streak.  Bobrovsky made 21 saves of the night.

“It’s always welcome to have an early lead. “ Said Pavelski, who had a goal and an assists tonight.  “Especially against one of the best team in the league.”

NOTES:
Crosby’s three points night gives him 61 points in 37 games.
Gaudreau has six points in two games since moving to the first line with Crosby and Pavelski.
Chinook outshot the Isotopes 16-4 in the first period.
