Chinook lose two straight, Norsemen edge Chinook 2-1

ST. PAUL – Entering the evening having lost their first time in 15 games against the Icecats, Chinook played a tight road game, limiting its opponents' chances and giving itself a chance to win right until the very end. Chinook outshot the Norsemen 50-19, but it’s the stellar goaltending from Rinne that stole the spotlight.

But has been a trend on this trip, when it came time to score a big goal, it went in the other team's favor. Athanasiou’s goal 8:19 into the second period broke a 1-1 tie and was the difference as the Norsemen won 2-1 to hand the Chinook their second straight loss.

The Calgary Chinook didn't play badly in this game. They just didn't play great, either.
Wednesday's game in Herb Brooks Olympia, probably more than any game Calgary has played this season, was extremely tight checking. For both teams.

Unfortunately, the Calgary Chinook was able to throw everything at Rinne and gave themselves a chance to win. But when the decisive blow was struck with 8:19 remaining in the second, it went to the Norsemen’ Athanasiou.

Game over.

Although the play, for all intents and purposes, was equal.

Price, however, was solid on Wednesday and was a hard-luck loser.
Sure, some of his saves could have been made a bit more cleanly. But in the end, he stopped 17 of 19 shots and gave his team a chance to win. Not much more you can ask for from Carey.

Sure, at 28-5-2, the Calgary Chinook are hardly in trouble. It's only early November, too.

Although with two straight losses, Chinook is absolutely no longer steaming hot, something needs to change to start another winning streak again.

NOTES:
Crosby was held without a point.
Since acquiring Rinne for Dubnyk, the Norsemen haven’t lost a game.

UP NEXT:
Chinook will try their luck in Vegas against the Aces on Friday.
