New Line Combos Fall Flat, Icecats Beat Dayton 5-1 in Siberia...

After a mind-numbing 15-hour flight from Florida to Siberia, the Dayton Musicmen finally arrived at their hotel, just ninety minutes before the scheduled game time this evening.

After some quick negotiations, the game time was pushed back several hours to allow the Musicmen players to get some sleep.

"This was, well, bullshit" said Jason Pominville. "How the hell are we supposed to be ready to play a pretty good Icecats team after that insane flight? Three shots in the first period and four more in the second? Just seven after 40 minutes of play? "

By the 66th minute of the game, Dayton was behind 4-0 and the game was basically over.

"Matt Irwin literally fell asleep on the bench tonight. Sbisa tried to wake him up but it was tough. He was snoring and everything." said Derek Ryan.

Outshot 49-14, the game never really seemed in doubt for Siberia, who controlled the game from the outset.

The new lines featuring rookies Dickinson and Rowney didn't work so well, neither of whom could even muster a single shot on net. "I never had to put my gear on at the hotel by the airport and literally skate to the arena for a game before. That was strange.." said Rowney.

What's next?

Dayton faces another stunningly long flight overnight as the team heads back to the States for a game in Dayton against the Minnesota Norsemen. "It'll be good to be home..." said Ryan...

Rumors of a trade were making the rounds in the press box near the end of the game, but no details were released officially by the team.
