Chinook offense erupts, routs Islanders 8-1 in Calgary

CALGARY –  The Chinook continues their success at home with an 8-1 win over the Islanders Monday night. All four lines are rolling tonight with the fourth line scoring both of the goals early in the first period despite having only 4 minutes of ice time the whole game. Ferland opened the scoring by deflecting Backlund’s shot from the right point at 3:50 mark of the first period. 49 seconds later, Granlund intercepted a pass by Maroon following Cullen win on the faceoff. Granlund then beat goalie Ryan Miller with a bad-angle shot from along the goal line.

Silfverberg continues his scoring streak by scoring two goals, Sidney Crosby added a goal and set up another and Mark Giordano had three assists to help extend the Chinook unbeaten streak to 14-0-1.

Chinook scored three times in its first 9 minutes while opening a 3-1 lead in the first against the Islanders. "It was nice to get out fast," Barkov said. "Ferly's goal got us going, and things went right."

"It's nice that other guys are getting confidence," Pavelski said, "We don't have to rely on Sid every night."

Chinook goalie Carey Price had an easy night given all the offensive support. Price made 22 saves.

Kris Versteeg scored the lone goal for the Islanders.

Crosby leads the league in point with 55 after this game.
