Miners defenceman Darnell Nurse says he finally feels healthy for the first time all year.
Based on last night’s game, it sure looks that way.

Nurse scored twice and Vincent Trocheck had a goal and an assist, helping the Sudbury Miners beat the Parry Sound Orrsmen 4-3 on Friday night, in a battle of the CCHL’s two Northern Ontario teams.

"Right now, I feel good and I'm enjoying hockey, but I need to keep it up," said Nurse, who also credited the training staff for getting him back in the line-up so quickly.  "With this current win streak, I think the chemistry from all of us, it starting to pay off."

Jesper Fast had two assists for the Miners, giving him 8 points on the year.  Goaltender Ben Bishop has a relatively quiet night, making 11 saves for his 4th win of the year.

"I think our guys all chipped in tonight and they all worked hard and competed hard," Miners coach Derek Sutton said. "I think with a couple of wins, our team is getting some confidence, but I think individual players based on some performances lately, are getting really confident every game too.  The longer we keep playing well, the more confident the guys are going to be."

"I think our game was really good tonight, we were aggressive all over the ice," Fast said. "We're having a lot of fun here. The crowd's been really good, we're feeding off their energy and we want to get them going, as well."

The Miners are back in action on Saturday night when the visiting Niagara Falls Thunder come to town.

MINERS NUGGETS

- With the win, the Miners home record improves to drop to 7-9-1.

- After being top of the CCHL for a good part of the season, the Miners penalty killing has now dropped to 5th in the league.

- Newly acquired D Jordie Benn played a season-low 10:00 on Friday night.  He has been playing with Shea Theodore on the 3rd defense pairing but is also starting to see some penalty killing time.
