The Sudbury Miners have gone from an awful start to one of the hottest teams in the CCHL, using the man advantage to help them to a season-high third straight win on Saturday night.
Sudbury scored three power-play goals and added another short-handed, en route to a 5-1 victory against the Niagara Falls Thunder, as the Miners won their third straight at the Vale Centre.

"We went out there tonight knowing that they are a penalty kill that is struggling," Tobias Reider said after he extended his point streak to three games. "We just tried to expose them the best way that we could. We worked for each other to get in the spots that were open and made some good plays."
Reider had three points and Vincent Trocheck picked up three assists in the victory.  Matt Calvert, Radim Vrbata and Lauri Korpikoski had the others goals for the Miners.  Jake Allen made a quiet 11 saves to get the win.

Sudbury went 3 for 11 on the man advantage and killed all three Niagara Falls power plays.
“The things we want to do have stayed the same," Miners coach Derek Sutton said. "There's no doubt that we're executing better. With that execution, it doesn't lead to costly mistakes and we've been able to build off that the last few games and play, for the most part, pretty good hockey."
"We took advantage of some plays, but we got pucks in," Calvert said. "We were aggressive. We were skating."

The Miners will play their 3rd game in as many nights, as they travel to Halifax to take on the Hammerheads.  The Hammerheads currently sit in 4th place in the Corfield Conference.

MINERS NUGGETS

- Winger Benoit Pouliot suffered an undisclosed injury on Saturday night.  Initial reports is that it is not serious and he should be out of the line-up for 5-7 days.
- With Pouliot’s injury, winger Marcus Foligno will check into the line-up on Sunday night versus Halifax.
- During pre-game warmups, the Miners wore camouflage jerseys that will be autographed and auctioned off to benefit the Canadian Wounded Warrior Project as part of the Remembrance Day ceremonies that were held prior to last night’s game.
